Thrust Issues
At Welding level 8, Wade Rusk lets you fix the ship's drive: 2 Drive Mounts, 1 Galvaferrite, 2 Mounting Brackets, 1 Galvanic Wire Spool and sixteen passes. The repair is the whole reward.

Where it begins
You need to have finished Wheel Be Right Back and reached Welding level 8. Wade Rusk will not come find you: walk out to Rusk Recovery and choose Fix the Drive when you want it. Below level 8 he has nothing to offer you for it. It asks for nothing else — no Fabrication or Refining level, and you do not need A Cut Above.
What you need
- 2 Drive Mounts, 1 Galvaferrite, 2 Mounting Brackets and 1 Galvanic Wire Spool, installed at the Crash Site. You can fabricate Drive Mounts at Fabrication 8, or trade for them or be given them, and the same goes for the other parts. Fabricating is not required.
- Sixteen welding passes. You always do the welding yourself, and you need Welding level 8 to do it.
Walkthrough
- Take the Mission from Wade at Rusk Recovery.
- Install the parts at the Crash Site across as many visits as you like. What goes in stays in.
- Weld the sixteen passes. When the sixteenth lands the ship is repaired for good and the Crash Site shows it, before you have even spoken to Wade. The Propulsion System panel reads "Propulsion restored. Report to Wade."
- Talk to Wade at Rusk Recovery and choose Report Repair. The panel then reads "Propulsion restored. Ship flight-ready."
What you get
- 50 Welding XP for each pass, 800 in all. That is the whole reward.
- Reporting to Wade adds nothing: no extra XP, no Credits and no item.
Good to know
The ship is repaired, but it has no flight controls yet, so there is still nowhere to fly it.
